The award ceremony was held in Beijing. According to Oganov, the international state Scientific Prize is considered the most prestigious in China and is awarded every two years to no more than ten foreign scientists. This year, nine people became its laureates.
The scientist noted that many world-renowned researchers, including six Nobel laureates, were among the winners of the award in recent years. This year's prize was also awarded to French chemist and Nobel Prize winner Jean-Marie Lehn. According to Oganov, this time the awardees were dominated by specialists in the field of chemistry and materials science.
Artyom Oganov called this award the most significant in his scientific career and stressed that it imposes great responsibility for further research work. Oganov is a professor at the Russian Academy of Sciences and one of the founders of the field of computer design of new materials.
